The family of Bauke (Bob) Postma are saddened to announce the bittersweet news of his passing on Friday, August 14, 2026. He is no longer suffering, but he will be missed terribly. Bob is survived by; his wife of 35 years Ann Postma (VanderVies), his children Rob, Andrew & Jane, Trish, Lynda & Ed and Mike & Melody, his stepchildren Joanne and Rick, his siblings Tim, Mary, Elsie, Tina & Garth, Gord & Jill, Alice & Steve, his wife’s former stepchildren Olga, Clarence & Alice, Gary & Sandy, Sylvia, Jake & Lucille, Betty & John, Don & Maria, Chris & Flora, John, Martin & Cherelle. As well as many nephews and nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also survived by two very special young friends Thomas and Caleb.
Bob was a skilled and respected carpenter, but more than that, he also learned adjacent trades too. He made an impact an all those with whom he worked with including inspiring multiple young apprentices to learn carpentry.
From his early days, learning cabinet making in the Netherlands, to his retirement, fulfilling his dream of making handmade wooden toys, Bob spent his time using his hands to bless others. He was known as someone who could make or fix anything. His last job was installing Cabinets for Sarnia Cabinets and doing any type of work they asked him to.
Bob loved to go camping. He enjoyed puttering to get everything set up just so. When he was done, he had his eye out to help others who were in need and showed many new campers how to do things. Bob loved the kids, always willing to work with them, teach them and love on them. He would work in his shop with the foster children in his care and help them make something special. Bob will be remembered by many as a kind person who liked to connect with others by helping them.
Special thanks to the staff at Vision for their unwavering care and commitment.
