So many called him “Uncle Vern”. Many more called him “Friend”.
Born in Verden, Germany on New Year’s Day 1949 to German parents the late Hans & Lottchen Meyer. Werner Meyer arrived with his mother and older brothers to Pickering Beach where his father refurbished a cottage into a cozy home. He grew up admiring his older brothers and their cars. Eventually in his teens he became a “motorcycle enthusiast.” Since marrying Marie, he also started to collect classic cars. He was a machinery mover/trucker. He loved his job and for a time became a successful independent broker. He had an incredible sense of humour and was quite charming. He mentored many. He would converse with “paupers” or “kings” treating both equally.
A Celebration of Vern’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 402, 9 King Street East, Millbrook on Saturday October 10, 2026 from 5:00 – 10:00 PM. Please dress casually and bring your classic car or motorcycle.
