Olivette “Olive” Leonette Palmer passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health on September 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.
Olive was the beloved wife of the late Jim and a devoted mother to Peggy and her husband Rick, Steven and his wife Lori, and Richard and his wife Patti. She was a cherished grandmother to Ainsley and her husband Brock, Aivrey and Aiden, and a proud great-grandmother to Dallas and Amarya.
She is remembered by her sisters Claudette, whose husband Tony predeceased her, Raymonde, Roberta and her husband Jim, and Mona. Olive was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Annie, and by her siblings Caroline, Yolande, Violet, Pauline and O’Neil. Her many nieces and nephews will also miss her dearly.
Family was at the centre of Olive’s life. She met challenges with strength and selflessness and always worked to ensure that those she loved were cared for. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known as an excellent cook who prepared healthy, home-cooked meals.
After Jim’s death, Olive became a skilled darts player. She enjoyed following golf, hockey, tennis and baseball, listening to music, and going to bingo with her sisters. Her family will hold her love and memory close.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Olive’s wishes, a private family burial of ashes was held. Those wishing to express sympathy may donate to a charity of their choice; cheques are accepted at the funeral home.
