YEE, George

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Yee, age 68, on September 8, 2026, in Vernon, BC.

George was a man who lived life his own way. Although wildly independent and strong-willed, his kind heart and quick vibrant laugh had a way of making you feel a little lighter, even for a moment. An incredible story-teller, George brought people together with ease and was never one to struggle to build community. His ability to connect with people was second only to his ability to connect with animals, he will always be remembered for the way he cherished and nurtured them so gently and lovingly.

A ‘Jack of all Trades’ and a master of many, George was passionate about all things mechanical. From cars to airplanes, he could work on just about anything and always had at least one project on the go. George’s hands-on approach to life extended beyond his workshop, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand, tool, or whatever he could to a friend in their own projects or times of struggle.

Everyone knew that George’s word could be counted on, and to have him in your corner was to have someone behind you who meant it.

Above all, George was a dad, a brother, a friend, and a significant part of many people’s lives. He leaves behind his daughters, sisters, family, and close friends, all of whom will carry their own memories of him.

George’s life touched many, and his absence will leave a space that cannot be filled. We will feel him in each vintage car we see, at any wiener dog sighting, any time we hear a plane overhead, whenever anyone so much as mentions ‘Arizona’, and with the passing of each moment now spent apart on his prized gaudy chili pepper clock. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
