Carla Rose Kokokopenace, of the Sturgeon Clan and also known as Gaakinonahshitch, passed away in Grassy Narrows on September 6, 2026. She was born on August 14, 1978.
Carla was a devoted mother who loved her family and community. She enjoyed sewing, beading, fishing, bingo, cribbage, and visiting the casino. She trained as a personal support worker and was looking forward to working at Mercury Home.
She is remembered by her children, partner George, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. She was predeceased by her daughter Eternity, grandparents, and other family members.
A wake service was scheduled for September 26, 2026, at Agnes Fisher’s Building in Grassy Narrows. Her funeral service is scheduled there for September 28 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow in Grassy Narrows.
