It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we share the passing of Laureen Comeau Ross, who left us on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the age of 69. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted partner, John Waugh, John’s children and grandchildren, by her cherished sister, Maude (Robert), and fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Theresa (Liz), Shelia (late Rheal), Donna (Phil), the family of James Ste. Croix, and also by her nephews, cousins, and countless friends near and far.
She was predeceased by her mother, Viola Comeau, and her former spouse, Ernest Ross.
Laureen had a special love for all animals, especially her precious dog Willow, who brought her endless joy and companionship. She now joins her beloved fur babies who went before her, Muffins, Furbie, and PoohBear.
Laureen was blessed with a heart of gold, and an infectious smile that could light up any room. She enjoyed her bowling nights, bingo days, card games, and hosting holiday meals, and she brought warmth and kindness to every occasion. Her generosity and love for her friends and neighbors was evident as her door was always open to offer a listening ear, a gentle smile, and a willingness to help others, never asking for anything in return.
While our hearts are heavy with her passing, we are so grateful for the love she shared with us, the kindness she showed to us, and the enduring warmth we will carry forward in our hearts.
Laureen always looked forward to her annual summer trips back home to Gaspe. Although she was unable to go for the past two years, she will return next summer to join her mother for her final rest.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the DRCC at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa, and to all of her neighbors who were there for Laureen in her time of need.
A memorial service will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. E., Oshawa, ON, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
