Passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2026 at the age of 56, in Hamilton, Ontario, surrounded by the love of his family and the comfort of his favourite music.

For many years, Rob fought a long and aggressive battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). Throughout this journey, he faced the disease with unmatched strength and profound courage. While he lived with immense pain and loss of function, he never complained. Rob faced his reality with quiet resilience and a fierce dignity that left everyone who loved him in awe of his spirit. Watching him suffer was heartbreaking, but his bravery never wavered.

Robert Allen Hruska was the deeply loved partner and soulmate of Christine Alexander. Together, they shared a beautiful life fueled by their shared passion for windsurfing and spending countless hours on the water together.

Rob was an immensely proud father to his children: Raine, Teagan, and Colby Hruska. He shared a deep bond with Christine’s daughter, Alexa, whom he loved as his own for many cherished years. Rob shared a meaningful foundation with Marianne, the mother of his children, and the family remains grateful for their history.

Born on October 21, 1969, Rob was a man of immense talent, patience, and entrepreneurial spirit. Following a successful early career in automotive sales and management and eager to spend more time with his young family, Rob built a prosperous paintless dent repair business: a testament to his hard work and precision.

Before windsurfing became his main passion, Rob was an avid fisherman who possessed the rare talent and patience to craft his own custom lures. He loved to spend time with his kids, whether it was being beaten by Colby in chess (over and over again), or teaching Teagan to make giant pots of chili and going to Comicon with Raine, dressed in costume. He tried his hardest to get them all to love fishing as much as he did (to varying levels of success). Together, they each shared a love of movies and would look forward to catching each new release.

Above all, Rob had a profound love of nature, animals, and music. He could slow down and notice all the finest details of the world around him. Music, however, was his ultimate connector. No matter how difficult things got, Rob used music to bring joy to those around him, always sparking dance parties in his care homes. His legendary Spotify playlist “Chill’n Hruska” was perfectly crafted, becoming a staple at Christine’s hair salon and drawing endless compliments from everyone who heard it. This very music provided the peaceful backdrop for his final days, comforting him as he prepared to transition.

Rob is survived by his devoted partner Christine; his children Raine, Teagan, and Colby Hruska, as well as Christine’s daughter Alexa. He is also survived by his loving sister Sherry Slejska and her husband Martin, who were faithfully by his side until the end as well as his cherished nephew and niece, Andrew (Hannah) Slejska and Ray Slejska. Rob was predeceased by his beloved parents, Bob and Lorraine Hruska. He will be deeply missed by a close-knit circle of extended family and dear friends who will carry his memory forever.

A Celebration of Life to honour Rob’s vibrant and brave spirit will be held at a later date. In honour of his journey, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to MS Canada to help find a cure for this devastating disease.
