Janet Frances Rose passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 85. Born in Halifax on December 13, 1940, she trained as a registered nurse at the Halifax Infirmary, later studied nursing science at Dalhousie University, and worked in public health and psychiatric nursing.
Janet shared a long marriage with Robert “Bob” Rose and is survived by her daughters Kristann and Michelle and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by Bob, their son Brian, and her parents Albert and Pauline Isnor. Music, violin, family, travel, and long friendships were important parts of her life; in her final months, she moved to Ottawa to be closer to her daughters.
Visitation will be held October 7 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home in Halifax. A Celebration of Life Mass will follow October 8 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, with committal at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
