Poonam Kumar passed away in Cobourg, Ontario, on September 29, 2026, at the age of 72 after living with advanced-stage cancer. She was born on October 23, 1953, in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, India.
A fine arts professional for more than 50 years, Poonam enjoyed painting and teaching art to children and adults. She married Dr. Ashok Kumar in New Delhi in 1977.
Poonam is remembered by her husband, Dr. Ashok Kumar; sons Anurag and Abhinav; daughters-in-law Shazia Naaz and Dr. Astha Bansal; and grandchildren Anya, Aryan, Ayaan and Anay.
Visitation, funeral services and last rites prayers were held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home in Cobourg on October 1, 2026, followed by cremation in Ajax.
