It is with mixed feelings that we share the news of the death of our beloved Ruth Sullivan. First, the feeling of the deepest sorrow a heart can feel and second, great joy knowing she is safely in her heavenly home in the presence of her Saviour.

Ruth died October 18th, 2026 -at Hillsdale Terraces- Oshawa .

She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, George, shortly after celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her daughter Colleen, son-in-law Lindsay, daughter-in-law Jane, son Grant, daughter-in-law Fiona, and daughter Cindy.

Grandchildren and “apples of her eye”: Mark (Hailey), Joseph (Ana), Laura (Troy),Sarah (Stéphane), Rachel (Jordan), and Kyle.

Great grandchildren: Hunter, Adelaide, Romi, Ethan, Kennedy, Emma, Elizabeth and Georgia

Also surviving her are her sister Norene, and sister-in-law Gloria, her sister-in-law Shirley, brother in laws Arthur (Carol) and John (Rose), her beloved nieces and nephews, and many, many, many dear friends.

She was pre-deceased by her son Dan, her parents Nayman and Lila Fawcett, and brothers Dalton and Clyde.

From our family to the caregivers on Garden Gate- Hillsdale Terrace and Emma’s Floor- Taunton Mills the most gratitude possible for the kind and compassionate care for our mom.

We were blessed with two of the most compassionate and creative companions for mom, Peighton and Landon. Their dedication and love for her brought joy and friendship to the whole family.

If you wish to make a donation to honour mom a charity that shares the love of God or helps the poor would be a wonderful tribute to her.

Mom was born April,19th, 1933 in Parry Sound. The family moved to the Sudbury area when she was 2. They lived on Whittaker street for many years. Mom and dad met on a blind date set up by dear friends Ellen and Gerald. Four children in five years kept her very busy, she actually had to have the carriage wheels re-treaded. Then came the big move to Whitby and the start of George Sullivan Real Estate Ltd. Mom now was not just a wife, mom and homemaker but an office manager. The next adventure was the construction and start of a storage business Mini Stor It. Then came the six grandkids, with trips to Arby’s, card games, pillow forts, dollar store outings, sleep overs, lots of pranks and laughter. This era also brought a construction project of a home in Nova Scotia, a maple syrup operation, and the start of her own business, Marvelous Life Christian Book Store. The games were a little quieter for the 8 great grandkids, maybe other than the pie in the face game, but knee bouncing, singing and hugs whether in person or via face time made for great memories. Always with opened doors and a welcome table to friends and family and sometimes strangers. Visiting the sick and helping the poor and sharing God’s love were high on her to do list whether in Whitby or Nova Scotia.

If you remember the Sound of Music and the song “how do you solve a problem like Maria”. Well mom certainly wasn’t a problem but she sure is hard to describe so we thought we would try with
