The powerful, creative and gentle force that was Mary Alison Brandt, fought a heroic battle against cancer and left this world to enter peacefully into the next, at her home in Uxbridge, on October 16, 2026.

Alison Mary Brandt was born on August 4, 1979 in Winnipeg. She was a sweet and adorable child, with a smile that no one could resist. As a young girl, she loved studying ballet, drawing, painting, going to the beach, swimming and playing with her sister Lisa.

After graduating from Kelvin High School in Winnipeg, Alison decided to spend a year traveling in Europe, discovering a love for the Mediterranean Sea and living for several months in the Greek Islands. She loved to travel and continued her adventures on a trip to South America with friends. Her eye for design was pulling inspiration from all of her travels, to be used in her future career. She pursued her passion for Interior Design, earning a Bachelors Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University. After a few years working in Design Studios in Toronto, she moved to Vancouver to work on exciting large and small-scale design projects. She loved the outdoor lifestyle in Vancouver, spending her weekends skiing, cycling and swimming in the ocean. She earned a snorkeling license in her spare time, further exploring her love of the sea.

Her career led her back to Toronto, and soon after, an exciting opportunity arose to live and work in the middle East. She spent nearly six years living a designer’s dream, working on palatial projects in Qatar and Morocco. Alison returned to Ontario in 2015, after receiving her first cancer diagnosis. She was very close with her aunt Rose, and lived with Rose and her husband Rob for the next two years. Rose became Ali’s primary support and caregiver throughout her cancer journey. Alison was vigilant about her diet, health and wellness, and remained in good health for the next ten years.

Alison was a mother to three beautiful daughters, Hannah (9), Amea (4) and Hazel (2), each of whom carry her kind heart and adventurous spirit. Alison lived for her children, creating for them a world of joy, happiness and love. She filled their days with creative activities, laughter and adventure. Alison centered her life around her children, raising them as a single mom with love, grace and care. Simultaneously, Alison started her own Interior Design business, Studio Brandt, in 2021. She completed many luxury home projects in Toronto, received accolades and was named a finalist at the Living Luxe Awards Show just a few months before she passed. Her designs were elegant, inspiring and rich with color and texture, showing the talent and expertise she cultivated during her inspiring international career.

Alison is survived by her three children, Hannah, Amea and Hazel, her step-daughter Matilda, her sister Lisa Garcia-Rivera (husband Javier), her brother Jesse Labossiere (partner Mira), her aunt Rose and uncle Rob. She is preceded in death by her father, Les Brandt, who passed away in 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 27th at 11:30am at Trail Hub in Uxbridge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the fund supporting Alison’s children. E-transfers can be made directly to aliskidsfund@gmail.com.
