With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Hazel Joyce Baker, announces her passing on October 13, 2026 at the age of 89 years. In her final days, she was surrounded by her family and heard endless wonderful memories. Hazel was the cherished and loving wife to Ken Baker for 62 years and the treasured mother of three daughters: Brenda (Jim), Kathy (Tom) and Christine (Jason). Loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Daryl (Keila) and Tyler (Alison), Taryn and Nolan, and Jacob and Cara. She was a loving great grandmother to four great grandchildren: Benjamin, Eva, Colin and Sydney. Hazel will be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law Grace, Jean and Doreen and her many nieces and nephews.
Hazel was born in Kingston, Ontario on January 13th, 1937. She was a hard-working, and respected employee of Alberto Culver where she met Ken, the love of her life. She was a homemaker for several years before resuming her employment at Kmart where she used her many creative talents on the retail merchandising team for 25 years. In her spare time, Hazel sewed clothing for her daughters and then knitted and crocheted many outfits and afghans for her family and others. An avid baker, Hazel was renowned for her delicious baked goods which she lovingly prepared for her family every Christmas.
Hazel was an involved and active member of Centennial Albert Church for many years where she helped organize fundraising dinners and bazaars, sang in the choir, served as a board member on the worship committee and decorated the sanctuary to enhance each religious celebration. Many valued and lasting friendships were forged with her church family that became an integral part of her life.
First and foremost, Hazel was a devoted wife and mother who put the needs of others in front of her own. She took great joy in preparing for and celebrating the milestones of her family. She will be forever missed and remembered.
