It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jan Slowakiewicz on October 25, 2026, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 71.
Born in Biecz, Poland, Jan was the son of the late Emilia and Tadeusz. In 1986, he moved to Canada, where he built a life defined by hard work, deep integrity, and a steadfast commitment to honesty. He was a man who gave generously of his time and abilities, always ready to support others simply because they needed help, without expecting anything in return.
Jan was the president of the Gen. W. Sikorski Polish Veterans’ Association in Oshawa between 2023-2024 and loved to be involved with our community.
Jan had a gentle spirit, a wonderful sense of humour, and a special love for animals, especially his cherished companions Maya and Snoopy. Above all, he was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a caring presence in the lives of everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his dearly beloved wife Alicja, his loving son Matthew, and his cherished grandson Luke.
Jan will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his warmth, courage, and the lasting imprint he left on the hearts of his family and friends.
Please join us for visitation on Oct.29/26 at 6-8pm at Armstrong Funeral Home in Oshawa. Rosary and prayers will start at 7:30pm.
Service will be at St. Hedwigs Parish in Oshawa on Oct.30/26 at 10 am, followed by reception at the Gen. Sikorski Polish Hall.
