Peacefully, on October 31, 2026, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, at the age of 83.
Beloved husband of Shirley for over 61 wonderful years. Loving father of Rob (Kristyn) and Chris (Jessica), and cherished grandfather of Austin, Nora, Lauren, Maya, and Cole. Dear brother of Clayton and the late Barb Marsh.
Larry Robert Chappell dedicated 26 years of his career to General Motors. A hardworking man by nature, he never truly retired, always finding something to keep him busy in his garage. A lifelong car enthusiast, Larry had a deep passion for automobiles and took great pride in his many restoration projects. His dedication, strong work ethic, and love of working with his hands were qualities he proudly passed on to both of his sons.
Although he was never particularly fond of flying, Larry enjoyed hitting the road with his family, creating lasting memories along the way. He especially treasured the many summers spent at Bark Lake and Barkwick campgrounds, where time with family became some of life’s most cherished moments.
Quiet and easygoing, Larry valued good conversation and the lasting friendships he built throughout his life. He was a devoted Blue Jays fan, whether watching the games on television or listening to them on the radio. He found great satisfaction in sharing his wisdom with others and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His kindness, steady presence, and genuine nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
As per Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Hearth Place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Armstrong Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.armstrongfh.ca.
