Shirley Ann Aldean Carpenter (née Hodgins)

July 22, 1934 - March 5, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Ann Aldean Carpenter (née Hodgins), on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the age of 90. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren, while listening to one of her favorite songs, Together Again, as she made her journey home to reunite with the love of her life and two of her boys.

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Angus Carpenter, and her sons, Terry and Bob. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Muriel, Delma, and Beatrice, and her brother, Ken. She leaves behind her loving sister, Reta Delorme of Callander Bay, and brother-in-law, Pal Timol. Cherished mother to Linda Ellis (the late Wilfred), Barry (Fern), and Dale, she was a nurturing aunt to many nieces and nephews and a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many.

Shirley lived a long and fulfilled life, bringing smiles and love to all who were fortunate enough to be part of her journey. She and Angus shared a deep love for music and travel, spending summers camping up north, singing around campfires, and winters in Florida, where they became known as the "Canadian Sweethearts," singing in the parks. Their love story spanned over 60 beautiful years.

Shirley succumbed to the ills of dementia after a short battle, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held later in the spring. Details will be announced at a later date.
