SZEKERES, Catherine Blanche (née Lawless) –
NOVEMBER 4, 1928 – MAY 16, 2024
A long-time resident of Oshawa, Ontario.
Blanche passed away on May 16, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was President of the family-owned Maple Leaf Tool & Die until her retirement in 1983.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph (February 1962).
Cherished mother of Kathryn Dalby (Daniel), Joseph and the late William (March 2009).
Adored Nana of Allison Dalby (Geoff Leslie), Bryan Dalby (Sunita O’Neill), and great-Nana to Aurora and Colton.
Born in Grafton, Ontario, on November 4, 1928. Daughter of Frederick Lawless and Mary Calnan, Pre-deceased by her five older siblings: Bernard Lawless, Margaret Maher, Teresa Swan, Thomas Lawless and Fred Lawless. Survived by sister-in-law Dorothy Lawless.
The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry for the compassionate care provided to Blanche in the last week of her life. A heartfelt acknowledgement from the family is extended to Blanche’s friends at Amica Whitby.
Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West on Tuesday May 21, 2024 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 4 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the People Parish 570 Marion Ave. on Wednesday May 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Gregory’s Cemetery.
Donations in Blanche’s memory may be made to the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry or charity of your choice.
