MITCHELL-BAIN, Jean Marie (Heard) - (November 7, 1926 - August 4, 2021)

Born in a small house on Main Street North, Mom passed peacefully with family by her side at ReachView Village in her beloved Uxbridge in her 95th year.

Beloved wife of the late Robert P. Mitchell and Chester H. Bain. Adored mother of Mary (Grant) Dixon, Jo-Anne (late Steven) Hilton and Kelly (David) Slattery.

Grandmother to William (Stephanie), Mitchell (Tatiana) and MacKenzie (Laura) Hilton and Brittany (Ryan Thackeray) and Robert Slattery (Meaghan Wiemer). Great-grandmother of Sarah and Rachel Hilton, Oliver Hilton and Henry Thackeray.

Survived by her brother Milton (Bud) Heard and sister-in-law Jean Heard (late Alan H. Heard).

A proud graduate of Toronto Western Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1948), Jean did a post-graduate course in Operating Room Nursing at the Jersey City Medical Centre, later completing an administrative course in Hospital Nursing Service at the University of Toronto.

Mom was an indomitable force and extended her care to many along the way, her memory will be treasured by many close friends and extended family.

Fondly known as “MASH” by many on Haliburton Lake.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at ReachView Village in Uxbridge and Dr. Yao for the wonderful care Mom received.

Donations in memory of Jean to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation, Breadalbane Cemetery, or the Uxbridge Historical Centre would be appreciated.

A private family service will be held. Arrangements with Low and Low Funeral Home.
