DIKE, James Oscar 'Jim' - CPA.CM - In his 81st year, Jim passed away on Wednesday August 4, 2021 with his loving wife of 55 years, Maureen at his side.
He will be missed by his sons Jamie (Lisa) and Paul (Linda) and his 2 granddaughters Lynda and Lauren.
Prior to his retirement Jim was CFO at Operation Springboard for 17 years.
Sailing played a significant part of his life, as the whole family enjoyed the sport.As a member of Frenchman’s Bay Yacht Club for over 50 years, Jim served as Commodore, President of Ontario Sailing and President of Sail Canada (CYA).
He also assisted in getting a member of FBYC sailing school to be the first Canadian to win The World Youth Championship and represented Canada in the Olympic Games in 1996 where we attended the Games to watch.
He also served as Chair of the Board of Directors of PARA Marine Search and Rescue for 20 years and was named “Yachtsman of the Year” in 2003.
He was a past member of the City of Pickering Waterfront Coordination Committee and was currently a member of the Community Advisory Committee for the Pickering Nuclear Plant and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Condo Henderson Place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the PARA Marine Search and Rescue (682 Hillview Cres. Pickering Ontario L1W 2R7) or the Mount Albert United Church Kitchen Fund (41 Alice Street, Mount Albert, Ontario L0G 1M0) would be appreciated.
Celebration of Life to be held at 11:00 a.m. at Frenchman’s Bay Yacht Club (635 Breezy Drive, Pickering, Ontario) on Friday, August 13th.
