JONES, John Glyn  -  Our beloved brother, Glyn Jones passed away peacefully at the Hillsdale Estates LTC in Oshawa on Monday Dec. 20th, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He had just celebrated his 85th birthday on Fri. Dec. 17th.

Glyn was born in North Wales, the eldest son of the late Anne Jane Roberts and Hugh Jones.

In 1938 the family immigrated to Timmins. Ten years later they settled on a small hobby farm on the outskirts of Beaverton.

Although Glyn was born legally blind, it did not stop him from working for the next 55 years.

First on a dairy farm, and later after our dad passed away in 1974, he and Mom moved to town, where Glyn worked for many years cutting grass in the summer and blowing snow in the winter for Community Care. He also kept the grounds cleared at the local banks.

He was a fixture in town with his little green wagon going to and from his jobs.

When Mom passed away in 1997, Glyn continued with his many jobs, in addition now to cooking and taking care of his home and his beloved dogs Bowser and Toby. He loved to go out for breakfast at the Little Brown Jug, and “chew the fat” while he was there.

Glyn bravely battled several types of cancer for over 10 years.

When he fell and broke his leg in 2016, he moved to Hillsdale Estates where he enjoyed the next 5 years. He actively participated in all the activities and was known throughout the home for his cheerfulness and willingness to help.

Glyn will be dearly missed by his four siblings – Gwynfor and his wife Georgina in NB, David and his wife Marilyn in Kitchener, Betty and her husband Ray Perry in Greenbank and Meirion and his partner Bob Leahy in Warkworth. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and recently a great-great niece. Also remembered by family in Wales.

A very special thank you to all the nurses and PSWs at Hillsdale Estates and staff throughout the home who welcomed Glyn as family and cared for him with such great care.

A graveside service will be held at Stone Church Cemetery, Beaverton, on Tuesday December 28, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. Proof of vaccination will be required for this service.

If desired, a donation to a charity of your  CHARITY in Glyn’s memory is welcomed.
