CHALIFOUX, Martial Chalifoux  -

February 4, 1935 – December 25, 2023

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Martial (Marsh) Chalifoux on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Mattawa Hospital.

Marsh was born to John and Ida Chalifoux (nee Mino).

Marsh is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise Chalifoux (nee Labreche), his daughters Lena Chalifoux and Carol Robidas (Mario), grandchildren Nikolaus Robidas (Kristen), Addison Robidas, Jacob Langevin, Katrina Langevin, Brooke Thibert, great-grandson Brodie Langevin, brother Florian (Rollande deceased), and sister Lise (Armand).

Predeceased by his son Michael Chalifoux (Lisa deceased), and 9 of his 11 siblings. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

An exceptional and generous husband, father, grandfather, friend and community member, Marsh connected with all those that came to know him. Marsh was born and raised in Fabre, Quebec, and despite only receiving a grade 6 education he learned English as a young adult and pursued a successful career as a Superintendent at Stancrete Construction, and later as a self-employed contractor and master brick mason and retired at 55 years old.

Since they were married on October 26, 1957, Marsh and Louise shared an unbreakable bond of the deepest love and devotion.

Marsh and Louise dedicated their lives to God and let their faith shine through in all aspects of their life together.

We would like to acknowledge and send our warmest thanks to the Personal Support Workers, Nurses, and the friends too numerous to name, who took part in Marsh’s care.

We would also like to give special acknowledgement to Dr. Bryan Williams and Dr. Clint Redhead who went above and beyond to ensure Marsh’s care and comfort.

As per Marsh’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

The family will have an intimate burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that those who wish to honour Marsh’s memory donate to the Mattawa Hospice.
