Bruno Angelo Pretto

1948 – 2024

Bruno Angelo Pretto passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, November 23, 2024, at his home in Uxbridge, Ontario, at the age of 76. He is predeceased by his parents, Vittorino and Luigia Pretto, and his brother Gianico.

Bruno's journey reflects the Canadian immigrant experience. He came to Canada in 1959 from Northern Italy, following his father who arrived in 1955. His mother joined the family with Bruno and his brother four years later. The Pretto family initially lived in Ottawa before settling in Hamilton, Ontario.

Bruno graduated from the University of Toronto in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. It was during his university years that he met Paula Vopni, his wife and life partner of 57 years. They shared a love of ecology and built a beautiful life together, raising two children, Aaron and Gabriel Pretto-Vopni.

Bruno loved life to its fullest. He started his own business, built his own country home, and enjoyed good food, travel, and the company of family and friends. Known for his humor and warmth, Bruno's generous spirit and wonderful laugh will be remembered by all who knew him.

We are heartbroken by Bruno’s passing and will cherish his memory forever.
