Barbara Elizabeth de Rond

12 March, 1956 – 15 January, 2025

Our family is saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Barbara Elizabeth de Rond (Brennan) in Oshawa, ON on January 15, 2025, at the age of 68.

Barbara Brennan was born in Cumberland, ON (near Ottawa) on March 12, 1956. After completing elementary and high school in Nepean/Ottawa, Barb studied at the College of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. Upon graduating in 1979, Barb worked as a pharmacist in London, ON. There she met Martin de Rond, and they married on August 24, 1985, in Smiths Falls, ON.

Barb and Marty began their life together in Campbellford, ON, where Barb worked at the local hospital. During 10 wonderful years there, son Michael was born in January 1988, and daughter Erin in July 1989. In 1995, the family moved to Courtice, ON where Barb worked as a manager of pharmacy services at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital and the consolidated Lakeridge Health organization until her retirement in 2017.

In retirement, Barb and Marty were inseparable. They enjoyed golf, were devoted gardeners and jigsaw puzzlers, and diehard but forever forlorn Toronto Maple Leafs fans. Great joy came from their extensive travels throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean. Many lengthy road trips together were particularly special. Barb was so excited to welcome granddaughter Maeve in July 2023. Their precious time together will be a treasured family memory.

Barb will be forever remembered by Marty, Mike, and Erin and her husband Matthew for her total dedication to the family. She was a devoted and supportive spouse and mother, and the absolute best friend to Marty, Mike, and Erin. She was the greatest influence on the personal development of Mike and Erin and a driving force in their own educational and career success. She was incredibly proud of them both!

Barbara was predeceased by her parents Earl and Marcella Brennan. She was the youngest sibling of Judy (Miroslav, deceased), John (Barbara), Mary Jane (deceased, husband Art), and Patrick (Mary). Barb was cherished by her many friends, and Brennan and de Rond family relatives across Ontario and in Pennsylvania.
