Beverly Joyce Dewar

August 1, 1950 – December 6, 2024

DEWAR, Beverly Joyce – Passed away peacefully while surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the age of 74 years. Born in Port Colborne, she lived in this area all her life.

Beverly is survived by her beloved husband Dr. James Dewar, her daughter Janet Daoust (Joel), stepsons James Dewar (Kate) and David Dewar (Tracey), stepdaughter Allison Dewar, and her cherished grandchildren Josh, Jake, Megan, Alex, Hayden, Marcus, and Amanda. She is also survived by her sister Cheryl Lampman (Larry).

Predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Joyce Russell, her brother Dale Russell, and her sisters Patti Kelba and Tracy Lowry.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Arthritis Society. Online condolences and guest register available at Davidson Funeral Home.

March 20, 1935 - October 14, 2024

McWatters (nee Kovacs) – Esther Mary of Port Colborne passed away at Northland Pointe LTC on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the age of 89.

Esther is survived by her daughter Lynn Brazeau (Luke), daughter-in-law Luci McWatters, grandchildren Justin Brazeau (Prakaykul Khanproa), Leah McWatters-Wierzbicki (Alex), Emily Huneault (Ryan), and Jessica Baracetti (Michael), as well as her cherished great-grandchildren Hendrix, Rhodes, Mckenna, Claire, and Avery. She was predeceased by her husband Ed (2017), her son Tom (2018), and her parents Balint and Mary (Kish) Kovacs.

A lifelong resident of Port Colborne, Esther was an award-winning watercolor and palette knife artist and a proud member of the Port Colborne Art Club. Known for her beautiful florals, barn scenes, and waterfront landscapes, she was a fixture in the local art community. Esther was also active in the Port Colborne Golf and Country Club and the Port Colborne Curling Club. Adventurous at heart, she obtained her Private Aircraft Pilot’s Licence in 1958.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Northland Pointe for the excellent care provided to Esther over the years.

The McWatters family will receive visitors at Davidson Funeral Home, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., with a funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. in the Davidson Chapel, officiated by Rev. Canon Phil Bristow. A private family interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations in Esther’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

Timothy Leroy Kennedy
October 28, 1949 - October 8, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Timothy Leroy Kennedy, who left us on October 8, 2024, at the age of 74, surrounded by the love of his wife of 49 years and his three children.

Born in Welland, Ontario, on October 28, 1949, Tim was the cherished son of Merle and James Kennedy and a beloved brother to Joy Kennedy, Margaret Opatovsky (Albert ✝️), Deborah Clark (Greg), and Lorraine Mooney (Bill). He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Bruce Kennedy.

A devoted educator for over three decades, Tim inspired countless students and left a lasting impact in his community. His faith was central to his life, and he served as a lifelong member of St. James and St. Brendan’s Anglican Church, where he dedicated his time to serving and maintaining the church he held dear.

Tim’s passions included hockey and golf, and he especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey. As a proud member of the Port Colborne Country Club, Tim cherished his mornings on the golf course, delighting friends with his “Timisms” and dedication to the game. Known for his generosity and helping hand, he was always quick to lend his pickup truck or fix anything for friends and neighbors.

Tim is survived by his loving wife Leslie (Kargatis) Kennedy, and his children Dana Rasch (Chris), Patrick Kennedy (Anne Thomas), and Ashley Kennedy (Francesco Gallé). He was a proud “Papa” to Ethan and Turner Rasch, Josephine and June Kennedy, Matteo Thomas, and Ofélia Gallé. Tim will be deeply missed, and his warmth, kindness, and love of life will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Cremation has taken place. The Kennedy family will receive visitors at Davidson Funeral Home, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. James and St. Brendan Anglican Church, 55 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with interment following at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to St. James and St. Brendan Anglican Church or a charity of choice would be appreciated.

September 9, 1926 - October 17, 2024

Elaine McAvoy passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the age of 98.

Born and raised in Welland, Elaine earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Toronto and dedicated her career to helping others through her work with the Children’s Aid Society. A passionate traveler, golfer, bridge player, and – along with her husband Ken – a wonderful dancer, Elaine embraced life fully.

Predeceased by her husband Kenneth A. McAvoy Sr. (2000), her parents Harold and Mary Robinson, and her sister Lois Reilly, Elaine leaves behind a loving family: her children Lynne (Alec) Pinchin, Elaine Hunter, Ken (Tammy) McAvoy, Mary (Paul) Barchiesi, Tim (Linda) McAvoy, and Sheila McAvoy (Darren Lovely), as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Emily Wilson, Starr, Sue, and the staff at Northland Pointe for the compassionate care shown to Elaine.

The McAvoy family will receive visitors at Davidson Funeral Home, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on Wednesday, October 23, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a private family funeral to follow.
