With her family by her side at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, January 9th, 2025, Verna Brown of the Oneida Nation in her 71st year.

Beloved wife of the late Belanger Brown Sr. (2007). Loving mother of Belanger Brown Jr. (Jana), Tara Brown, Julie Brown (Roberta), and Gloria Brown-Doxtator (John). Proud grandmother of Kanatahe’le (Elissa), Edwin, Gregory (Jesse Renee), Damon (Maddison), Sierra, Orianna (Evan), Trynity, Daxtyn, Gloria Jr., Jakoby-Jak, TyKariss, and three great-grandchildren, Beau Zaius, Makoa, and a newly arrived baby girl.

Dear sister of Rosemary, Sherry, Karen, and Katherine. Survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Vernon and Gladys Deleary, grandson Ronald, and siblings Ether, Frank, Therman, Phillip, Leslie, Ronald, Donald, David, Richard, Cecil, James, Clifford, and Sandra Brown (2024).

Family will receive friends at Verna’s home, 2155 Ballpark Road, Oneida (Southwold), on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, after 4:00 pm. Service will be at the River Road Longhouse, 1035 River Road, Oneida (Southwold), on Monday, January 13th, 2025, commencing at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Oneida Zion Anglican Cemetery.

Unexpectedly passed away at Victoria Hospital, LHSC, London, Ontario, on Friday, December 27th, 2024, Nadia Kriz in her 38th year.
Beloved partner of Kyle Wira. Loving daughter of Lubica and the late Miroslav “Mike” Kriz. Cherished sister of Eva Kriz and Lenka (Matty) McEachran.
Proud aunt of Kavan and Kowen. Fondly remembered by the Wira family.

Nadia will be deeply missed by her beloved fur babies, Coco and Sage. She will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and love for family, friends, and animals.

Family will receive friends at the Elliott-Madill Funeral Home (22424 Adelaide Road, Mount Brydges) on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am,
with a Celebration of Nadia’s Life to commence at 11:00 am.

Douglas Sheldon Smith

1937 – December 29, 2024

Peacefully at home in Komoka on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, Douglas S. Smith passed away in his 88th year.
Beloved husband of Dorothy Smith (nee Miles). Loving father of Stuart Smith of West Lorne, and Laurie (Kelly) Welch of Kilworth.

Cherished grandfather of Tabitha (Brian) Hastings, Kayleigh Smith, and Courtney and Rory Welch. Proud great-grandfather of Aubrey and Morgan.
Remembered by his sister Betty (Brian) DeAthe and predeceased by his brother Phillip. Douglas will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends.

At Mr. Smith’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Komoka United Church on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, commencing at 11:00 AM with Reverend Wayne Kent officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ailsa Craig Food Bank (161 Ailsa Craig Main Street, N0M 1A0, Ph: 519-293-3637) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Larry Franklin Fisher

1934 – 2024

Peacefully at his home in Muncey, surrounded by his loving family, Larry Franklin Fisher Sr. passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in his 91st year. Larry has gone home to join his beloved wife, Fay Virginia Fisher (nee Floyd), who passed away in 2023.

Loving father of Elizabeth (Jim) Waddilove, Larry Fisher Jr., Wendy (Gerald) Dunn, Fred (Bonnie) Fisher, Bill (Joanne) Fisher, Douglas (Karen) Fisher, and Shane (Linda) Fisher. Proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy Shildrick, Velma Moore, and his brother Maynard (Carol) Fisher, as well as in-laws Creatha Fisher, Rose Fisher, Norma (Ron) Floyd, Bonnie White, and Kathy (Paul) Roelofsen.

Predeceased by his son Leslie Stephen Fisher (1962), grandchildren Stephen Fisher (2018) and Megan Fisher (2021), brothers Delbert (1999) and Fred (2017), sisters Rena French (2017), Julia Fisher (2011), Yvonne Conley (2018), and brothers-in-law Richard Floyd (1969) and Robert Floyd (2009). Larry was the son of the late Florence (nee Grosbeck, 2006) and Frank L. Fisher (1977) and son-in-law of Alma (nee Cornelius, 1984) and Vincent Floyd (1986).

Larry will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and his poker and casino buddies Amanda Hutton, Bill and Joane Fisher, Cheri and Gene Hendrick, Terri Fisher, Cheryl Patterson, and Elizabeth Waddilove. Special thanks to Stephanie Snauwaert, Cheryl Patterson, and Bonnie Fisher for their extraordinary care and love, and to his caretakers Clint Cornelius and Waylon Doxtator for their dedication.

As per Larry’s request, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will occur at Middlemiss Cemetery, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Reserve, at a later date. A sacred fire has been lit at his residence, 139 Jubilee Road, Muncey. Everyone is welcome to join in honoring Larry’s memory.

1956 – 2024

Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital, London, on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, Delores Doxtator of Oneida Nation passed away in her 68th year. She was a loving mother to Tanya Antone (Steven) and Joseph (Dusty), and a cherished grandmother to Joaquin, Rhae, Kennedy, Payton, Ciara, and Colton.

Delores will be sadly missed by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Her warmth and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends will be received at Elliott-Madill Funeral Home, Mount Brydges, on Thursday, December 12th, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, December 13th, 2024, commencing at 11:00 AM. At Mrs. Doxtator’s request, cremation will follow.
