After a long and wonderful life, Douglas Royce Jarrett passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, surrounded by the love and care of his children. He was 94 years old.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen (2003), and his dear friend Elizabeth Luscombe (2024). Douglas was a devoted father to Steve (Nancy Mills) of the Beaches, Brian (Betty Ann) of Oakville, Cathy (Stuart) Wiskel of Trenton, and Sandy (Dave) Atkin of Bala. He was a much-loved grandfather to Mitchell (Lindsay), Gregory (Carly), Barry (Michaela), Kaitlyn (Eric), Alexander (Sarah), Kevin (Devin), Andrew (Emily), Samantha, and Jesse, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to Hailey, Hannah, Brayden, Sophie, and Ryan.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Nora, and his siblings Betty Armstrong, Al Jarrett, and Min Elliott, as well as his brother- and sister-in-laws. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends.
Doug's greatest love was his family, and he cherished spending time with them at his treasured island cottage in Muskoka and his home in Beaver Valley. He was known for his welcoming and generous spirit, ensuring everyone felt included.
Born and raised in Mimico, Doug attended public and high school before earning his Chartered Accountant degree from Queen's University. His career began as a partner at his family accounting firm, Jarrett, Gould & Elliott, which later merged with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he retired in 1992.
Doug was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed canoeing, water skiing, sailing, and windsurfing. He was a champion sailor and served as Commodore of the Canadian Albacore Association in 1964. He was also an active golfer and tennis player and a longstanding member of the Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club and Mississauga Golf & Country Club, recognized as the latter's longest-standing member in 2020.
A passionate skier, Doug began on the slopes as a teenager in High Park, Toronto, and became a lifelong member of the Beaver Valley Ski Club, where he and Eileen built a chalet and introduced their family to skiing. Doug served on the Ski Club Board of Directors and was recognized in 1982 for his Outstanding Contribution to the Ontario Ski Industry.
Doug was also deeply committed to volunteerism. He was an active member of the Etobicoke Rotary Club, serving as both Treasurer and President in 1970. He received two Paul Harris Awards for Outstanding Service. Doug was also the Treasurer of the Church of the Kettles in Muskoka for 43 years.
Celebration of Life: A celebration of Doug's life will be held on February 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Beaver Valley Ski Club’s Upper Lodge, the “Keg.”
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Church of the Kettles or The Hospital for Sick Children would be greatly appreciated.

Tom Anthony den Bok passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born to Johannes (Joop) and Helena (Leny) den Bok on August 31st, 1964, Tom will forever be remembered as a loving son, a devoted husband, a dedicated father, and a cherished friend to many.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Micheline (nee Mohlmann), and his children, Danielle den Bok, Kristen den Bok (Aaron Matthews), Nicole den Bok (Perry Thomson), and Luke den Bok (Jessica Gnesin). Tom is also survived by his sisters, Carolina (Steve) Kay and Wendy (Paul) Stephens, and sister-in-law Roxanne den Bok. He was predeceased by his sister Bonnie and brother Wayne. His extended family, friends, neighbors, and community will deeply miss his vibrant spirit and generosity.
Tom was a man of faith, talent, and dedication. Skilled in woodworking, home design, and unique projects, he used his gifts to help his community and those around him. He loved the outdoors and could often be found singing with the choir, hiking, skiing, paddling, or working in his workshop. He leaves a legacy of love, faith, and creativity that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20th, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 21st, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with visiting beginning at 1:00 PM, at the First Presbyterian Church in Collingwood.

Peacefully surrounded by his cherished family on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Brightshores Health in Markdale, in his 79th year.
Beloved husband of Wendy for over 50 years, and loving father to Heather (Stephen) Ashley, Lee (Jenn), Neil (Lori), and Jamie (Maggie). Lorne will be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Rose Talbot, brother Henry Talbot, and other beloved relatives.
Known for his quiet, insightful demeanor, Lorne was a passionate farmer, skilled truck driver, and deeply devoted family man. The pride he held for his family was evident in every conversation.
Cremation has taken place, and a gathering will be held in the spring to celebrate Lorne’s life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Markdale Hospital for their compassion and care.
