Michael "Tony" Popadynetz passed away at home in Kapuskasing at the age of 70, surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband of Anne Marie, loving father of Meaghan and Erin, and cherished grandfather of Elliot.

Doreen Trudel

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Trudel at the age of 76. She passed away peacefully at North Centennial Manor, surrounded by her loving family. Doreen was known for her talent in arts and crafts, her passion for cooking, and her vibrant social life.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Harty Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Donations in her memory can be made to the Animal Rescue of Kapuskasing or North Centennial Manor.

Renaud Michaud

August 6, 1939 – December 30, 2024

We regret to announce the passing of Renaud Michaud, who passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Monday, December 30, 2024, at North Centennial Manor, Kapuskasing.
Renaud was a man of many talents and passions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and riding his ATV. He also loved singing, whether in choirs or on his own.
Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Renaud is survived by his loving wife, Rita; his children: Régine Doiron (Denis) and Joanne Michaud, all of Timmins, and Nancy Bizier (Richard) of Kapuskasing;
his grandchildren: Andréanne (Ryan), Renaud (Bri), and Justin; and his great-grandchildren: Daxton, Jade, Cooper, Nate, and Chloe.
He was predeceased by his parents, Olivier and Alma Michaud, and nine siblings.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Immaculée-Conception Church, with Father Sébastien Groleau officiating.
The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff at North Centennial Manor for their excellent care.

In memory of Renaud, donations to North Centennial Manor would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Jon Reimer

Saturday, December 28, 2024

We regret to announce the passing of Jon Reimer, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the age of 90 years, at North Centennial Manor. Born in Reesor, Jon was incredibly proud of his Mennonite heritage.

Jon was most well-known as a hairdresser in the community, first as the owner of Jon’s Hair Salon, then as part-owner of Beauty Boulevard. At the age of 58, after a 30-year career as a hairdresser, Jon traveled to Florida to train as a massage therapist. He continued working until the age of 78 in their home at Remi Lake, where he also hosted happy hour many afternoons. He especially enjoyed his early morning walks around the peninsula.

Jon is survived by his three daughters: Sheila Bennici-Clendinnen (Joseph) of Winnipeg, Rhonda Reimer of Sudbury, and Beverly Keating (Daniel) of Kapuskasing; his sisters Wanda Jones and Lydia Dietrich, both of Es, and his sister-in-law Bonny Reimer of Kingsville. He was the proud Opa of seven grandchildren: Robin, Elizabeth (Rahulan), Emma (Antonio), Sam, Mary (Eric), Jane, and Adam (Kelsy); and six great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Layla, Luca, Anna, Benjamin, and Wyatt.

Jon was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara; his parents, Herman and Helen Reimer; his brothers, Vernon Reimer and Henry Reimer; as well as his two brothers-in-law, Bill Jones and Murray Dietrich.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would greatly appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society, as expressions of sympathy.

Atlas Thiffeault Jetté

Passed Away: Thursday, December 5th, 2024

The joy we shared as we awaited the arrival of Atlas has turned to sorrow, as we announce the passing of our dear son, Atlas Thiffeault Jetté, on Thursday, December 5th, 2024. Though his time with us was brief, he left an everlasting imprint on our hearts.

Atlas will forever be remembered by his parents, Jenny Thiffeault and Jesse Jetté; his grandparents, Normand Thiffeault (Tracy) of Timmins, Cindy Fletcher (James) of Chapleau, and Lise Jetté of Val Rita; his aunt and uncles, Sylvie Roy, Nathan Fletcher, David Madore, Michel Madore, and Mathew Fletcher; as well as many extended family members.

Atlas was predeceased by his great-grandparents, Raymond Jetté, and Raymond and Louise Thiffeault.

We regret to announce the passing of Rolande (Courchaine) Fournel at the age of 76, on October 30, 2024, at Sensenbrenner Hospital. Known for her warm spirit, Rolande was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a lover of music, often singing at social gatherings in her younger years, and found joy in spending summers at her cottage at Rémi Lake. She retired from a dedicated career at Geraldton hospital.

Rolande leaves in mourning her beloved husband, Vic Fournel, and her three sons: Jacques (Anya) of Stoney Creek; Dean (Brandy) of Thunder Bay; and Daniel (Stephanie) of Lexington, South Carolina. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Ashley (Cody Wood) of Atikokan; Ryan (Benjamin Wabano) of Timmins; Nathaniel, Braden, Kaya, Alexa, and Sebastien; and seven great-grandchildren.

Rolande is also survived by her sister Jeannine Lozier (late Hubert) and brothers Ernest (Gisèle), Roger (Grace), Pierre (Francine), Michel, Lewis (late Debbie), and Gilbert (Huguette), along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Irène and Jacques Courchaine, and her sisters Jaelle Goulet (late Michel), Evelyne Guillemette (Claude), and Jacqueline Holland (late Glen).

Respecting Rolande’s wishes, a private service will be held at a later date to honor her memory. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Sensenbrenner Hospital staff for their compassionate care during her final hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Rolande’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or World Mission Canada.

Gérard Gagné
October 12, 1947 - October 11, 2024

Nous regrettons d’annoncer le décès de Gérard Gagné, à l’âge de 76 ans, le vendredi 11 octobre 2024, à l’Hôpital de Smooth Rock Falls, suite à une longue maladie. Gérard est né le 12 octobre 1947, à Departure Lake. Respectant ses souhaits, il n’y aura pas de visite, ni de service. La crémation a eu lieu au Crématoire Guenette.

We regret to announce the passing of Gérard Gagné, at the age of 76 years, on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital, following a long illness. Gérard was born on October 12, 1947, in Departure Lake. Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place at the Guenette Crematorium.

We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Gérard Gagné and hope that their memories may bring comfort during this difficult time. Your thoughts and kind words are greatly appreciated.
