Smiling woman in formal attire and pearlsRolande Fournel
3-May-1945 - 30-Oct-2024

We regret to announce the passing of Rolande (Courchaine) Fournel at the age of 76, on October 30, 2024, at Sensenbrenner Hospital. Known for her warm spirit, Rolande was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a lover of music, often singing at social gatherings in her younger years, and found joy in spending summers at her cottage at Rémi Lake. She retired from a dedicated career at Geraldton hospital.

Rolande leaves in mourning her beloved husband, Vic Fournel, and her three sons: Jacques (Anya) of Stoney Creek; Dean (Brandy) of Thunder Bay; and Daniel (Stephanie) of Lexington, South Carolina. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Ashley (Cody Wood) of Atikokan; Ryan (Benjamin Wabano) of Timmins; Nathaniel, Braden, Kaya, Alexa, and Sebastien; and seven great-grandchildren.

Rolande is also survived by her sister Jeannine Lozier (late Hubert) and brothers Ernest (Gisèle), Roger (Grace), Pierre (Francine), Michel, Lewis (late Debbie), and Gilbert (Huguette), along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Irène and Jacques Courchaine, and her sisters Jaelle Goulet (late Michel), Evelyne Guillemette (Claude), and Jacqueline Holland (late Glen).

Respecting Rolande’s wishes, a private service will be held at a later date to honor her memory. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Sensenbrenner Hospital staff for their compassionate care during her final hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Rolande’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or World Mission Canada.
