William Daniel Hall
November 12, 1939 - December 9, 2024
With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of William Dan Hall on December 9, 2024. Dan passed away at his home peacefully, surrounded by family.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ethel of 56 years. Loving father of Lorri (Huibert) Vanderstarre, Joe Robinson, Steve (Michelle) Robinson, Kelly (Brady) Ibbotson, and Ken (Janet) Hall. He was cherished by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Dan had been a resident of Orono for more than 80 years and gave back to the community as a longtime member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was known for always having a funny story, a candy to share—earning him the nickname "the candy man"—or simply making time to listen.
Dan often talked about watching the Avro Arrow fly, his construction days building Highways 404 and 401, and his greatest passion: driving a concrete truck for many years. He will always be remembered for his big smile, his willingness to help in any way possible, and his unlimited love for family.
The Hall family would like to thank the Durham Region Police, Clarington Fire Department, and EMS responders for their care and support.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to follow.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME.
