HEWIS, David Edward Hewis -
April 8th, 1942 - Friday, July 5th, 2024assed away peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry surrounded by the love of his family on Friday July 5th, 2024, in his 83rd year.
Deeply loved and missed by his wife Jean of 54 years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Steven (Corrie), Michael (Angie), Philip (Stephanie), and Elizabeth (Dan).
Adored by his grandchildren Kyla, Paige, Ben, Henry, Fiona and Corbin Survived by his sister Jean (George), brother-in-law John (Judy), and nieces and nephews.
David lived his whole life in Whitby. As a young adult, he attended the Baptist Training Institute in Brantford where he met Jean.
They continued to build their family life in Whitby where he was actively involved in church life as a Sunday School teacher, Boys Brigade leader, choir member and deacon. In his later years, he found comfort and peace in his personal faith and walk with God.
David worked as an autobody technician.
He had a love for cars, aviation, gardening, playing his accordion, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities.
The family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Oak Ridges Hospice for their loving care and support for David and his family.
Visitation will take place at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 5295 Thickson Rd. N. from 11:00 am Thursday until time of Celebration of life in the Barnes Chapel at 12 Noon. A reception will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Oak Ridges Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
