It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Cornelius Mary Aarts on August 19, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, proud Opa, and cherished friend, John’s legacy is one of deep love, unwavering dedication, and a life well lived.
Beloved husband of 17 years to Kim Aarts, John was a pillar of strength and warmth in the lives of many. He was a proud father to Steve (Julie), Colin (Shelley), and Meagan (Renee), and a deeply devoted Opa to Cooper, Sam, Brennan, Adalene, Emry, Caitlynn, JayJay, and Willow. He also embraced his role as step-father to Mike, Brandon, Kody, Lacey, Cole, and bonus daughter Sherri, and as bonus Opa to Hailey, Emma, Maddison, Aiden, Kristopher, Kaisen, Kallen, Kain, Lincoln, and Lily. Dear brother to Ken (Sherry) Aarts, Pete (Cindy) Aarts, Mary (Marty) Timmers, John (Sam) DeGroot and uncle to many nieces and nephews. John was the cherished son of the late John B. Aarts and Joanna A. Timmermans. Predeceased by sister Nancy DeGroot and niece Janet Timmers.
Born and raised in Warwick Township, John spent his life doing what he loved—farming the land and nurturing his family. His roots ran deep in the soil he worked, and even deeper in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a man who found joy in the simple things: cheering on his grandchildren in their sports, sharing stories, and traveling in his RV with Kim to their second home in Arizona, a place that brought him peace and happiness.
John’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and love. He will be remembered for his big heart, his pride in his family, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and humor.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Denning’s of Strathroy on Sunday, August 24th, 2025 from 1pm-4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation.
