ABERNETHY, Muriel Bernice Abernethy

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville in her 99th year on Saturday, August 30th, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late John “Rae” Abernethy. Muriel was the cherished mother of Doug (predeceased), Laurel, Alan, Ron, and Jill.

Loving and adored grandmother to Tammy, Marci (Jonathan), Daniel (Kelly) and Bryan (Judy). Treasured great-grandmother to Bradyn, Gavin, Savannah, Makayla, Hailey, Dylan, Madison, Emmett and Caleb.

Predeceased by her parents Roy and Myrtle McDonald and her sister Marlene Jarvis.

Muriel’s life focused around her family and St. Paul’s United Church UCW. While raising her family, she enjoyed aquafit, bowling, cooking, doing puzzles and reading. Her love of reading continued throughout her life as did her passion for owls. In her final years, she loved to sit in her gray chair and watch the neighbour’s trees through the different seasons.

Visitation will be held on Saturday September 13, 2025 from 11am-12pm at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home. Service will begin at 12pm in the chapel.
