ACCARDI, Salvatore Accardi

It is with deep sadness that the family of Salvatore (Sam) Accardi announces his passing on June 15, 2025, in Toronto.

Born in Vita, a small rural town in Trapani, Sicily, he immigrated to Canada at the age of 17. Salvatore was ambitious and hardworking by nature, selling eggs and poultry products house to house and working on a vegetable farm during harvest season.

He soon ventured into dry cleaning, initially building a home pickup service, and eventually establishing a dry cleaning plant with his brother and brother-in-law as partners. In 1988, he formed Ashford Cleaners with his wife and children.

Salvatore leaves behind Caterina, his devoted wife of 61 years, along with their three sons, Luciano, Giulio (Sabina), and Peter (Thereza). Together they raised a family bonded by love and unity. He was a proud Nonno of Samuel (Meagan), Catherine, Emmeline, Luca, Grace, and Sofiane.

He is predeceased by six siblings and leaves behind his dear sister Franca, who will miss him. Salvatore will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, whose lives he touched.

Salvatore was thoughtful, generous, patient, kind, peaceable, a practical thinker, with a witty sense of humour and a hearty appetite. He was often sought by many for his wisdom and sound counsel.

Diagnosed with Parkinsonโ€™s Disease in 2016, Salvatore never relinquished his grace or the joy of being with his family.

Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., Toronto) on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Fidelis Parish (33 Connie Street, Toronto) on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Salvatore will then be entombed at Westminster Cemetery (5830 Bathurst St., Toronto).

Donations to Parkinson Canada, or your preferred charity, are suggested in lieu of flowers.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Bernardo Funeral Homes.
