
In Loving Memory of Marian E. Aelick – The family of Marian E. Aelick wishes to announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) in Mindemoya, Ontario, at the age of 82.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Wilmer “John” David Aelick and her parents Robert South and Grace (née Wilkinson McCauley). Marian is survived by her daughters Susan Newson (Greg) and Kimberly Brander (Paul), and her grandchildren Kyla Newson and Connor Newson (Robyn and sons Avery and Brooks), Clayton Brander and Ryan Brander, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Marian was a secretary for over 20 years. In retirement, she passionately pursued genealogy, traveled extensively, and found joy in gardening and walking her dog. A devoted member of The Order of the Eastern Star for more than 58 years, Marian touched many lives through her compassion and community spirit.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at MHC, especially oncology nurses Evan and Jennifer and doctors Dr. G. Desmarais and Dr. M. Harelnikava, for their outstanding care.
Marian will be laid to rest beside her husband, parents, and other loved ones at Coldsprings Cemetery in Bidwell Township, Manitoulin Island, Ontario. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Little Current United Church Hall (5 Robinson St., Little Current), starting at 9:30 a.m., with interment at 11 a.m. This informal “come-and-go” gathering will offer an open mic for anyone wishing to share memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marian’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
