Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, August 31, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Alice Mary Mariuz passed away at the age of 93. Loving wife of the late Ivano Mariuz for 66 years. Beloved mother of Rita, Gina (Medhat), and Nora. Loving Nonna of Sara (Cameron), Brooke (Kyle), and Chantelle (Justin). Precious Bisnonna of Paige, Kensi and Emma. Special Zia to numerous nieces and nephews, survived by her brother-in-law Nilo Franzon. Predeceased by her sister Lucy (Felino) Danelon, brother Joseph (Mary Ann) Molinari, brother-in-law Dino (Gabriella) Mariuz, sisters-in-law Giovanna (Aldo) Betteto, Bruna Franzon, and Marisa Mariuz. Alice was born and raised in Windsor and worked at CIBC bank prior to her marriage and moving to Sarnia. She was raised in a traditional Italian household and followed in her mother’s footsteps as an amazing cook, preparing delicious pasta dishes, meatloaves and meatballs, and other delicacies. Alice was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 60 years. She loved baking… her cakes, pastries, and cookies were impossible to resist. Alice was the bookkeeper for Federico & Mariuz Plastering for many years. She enjoyed crosswords, board games, and puzzles. Alice deeply loved and devoted herself to her family. She was a beautiful soul, gentle and kind. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. All our love and appreciation go out to all our cousins and friends for their love and support. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude towards the many people who cared for Alice. A special thanks to Dr. Crombeen, Dr. MacSweeney, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Chang, and to the care teams at Bluewater Health Medical and Palliative Floors and St. Joseph’s Hospice. The compassion shown towards Alice was a great comfort to her family, and those who cared for her will not be forgotten. A private family service will be held, followed by interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Josephs’ Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
