It is with sadness we announce the death of Mary Ann Ankenman at the age of 92 on March 24, 2026. Mary Ann grew up in the west end of Toronto and was the eldest child and only daughter of Grant and Mary Cameron. Mary Ann had a very close relationship with her mother and they spoke every day. She remained close to her brothers Kirk, Bruce and Hugh, even though they were a handful growing up. Mary Ann will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 72 years, Elwood and her devoted children and their partners, Grant (Mary), John (Alex) and Mary Jane. Mary Ann found joy in entertaining and the company of friends. She was a steadfast presence, always there, ready to help. Mary Ann was a volunteer for over 35 years at Women’s College Hospital. She held court at her store UnderWraps, where many customers and staff became cherished friends. Her creativity shone through her passion for flower arranging and she was a longtime member of the Milne House Garden Club and the North Toronto Horticultural Society. She leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories.
A celebration of life will be held at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto on Tuesday, April 14th at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Women’s College Hospital.
