Passed away peacefully on Wed Sept 2, 2026. Born in Napanee on January 7, 1946.
Predeceased by his parents Dora & Arthur; siblings Rollie, Linda, Janet, Wendy, Don and Jim and survived by his siblings Suzy, Kathleen & Pete.
It’s hard to write down words to describe a man who filled your heart with laughter and love as much as Gary. Arthur Franklin Gary Vanhooser loved telling you jokes and always made sure he gave you the biggest hug whenever he said goodbye. You always knew what he was thinking and he always looked out for his family and friends. The type of guy to go out of his way to make sure you were ok, no matter what. His love for cars, bowling, wrestling and fishing will be remembered. And his community at the local coffee shop will miss their weekly cup of joe with their friend.
He was known as “papa” to many, even outside his grandchildren and we will forever remember our fishing trips, watching WWE wrestling matches, playing Wii bowling at Christmas and mostly his smile that lit up the room.
This is a profound loss by everyone he held close. He will be missed greatly by everyone around him.
There will be a celebration of life to remember Gary, date to be announced.
