BAIRD, Roberta Baird

September 30, 1937 - August 28, 2025
BAIRD, Roberta Baird

It is with great sadness that the family of Roberta Baird (nee Bone) announce her peaceful passing at Port Perry Villa on Thursday, August 28th, 2025.

Roberta was born on September 30, 1937 and after a short career at IBM, spent most of her life as an active wife and mother on Kenroe Farms.  In between raising 3 children, she took great pride in her home and was known for her excellent cooking and wonderful baking.  She was always involved in the local community as  an active member of the Greenbank United Church – through the board, choir and UCW,  a 4H leader as well as the Port Perry Curling Club.  Roberta was very musical and spent many years with the County Town Singers, Scugog Choral Society and Women’s Institute.  If she wasn’t sewing for herself and her family, she was making costumes for local shows.  She could always be counted on to pitch in, organize and feed everyone – whether it was a local fair, a fundraising event or a county plowing match.  This led to a later career with Settlement House where she started as a part-time sales person and quickly worked her way up to a senior management position before retirement.

Roberta is mourned by her children Kenton Baird (Kerry), Robert Baird (Terri) and Jennifer Baird.  Loved by her grandchildren Matthew Baird, Kathleen Baird, Jillian O’Connor, Patrick Baird, Quintin Baird, Graham Baird and Gibson Baird as well as her great grandchildren Easton, Grayson, Jameson, Silas, Kendra, Lachlan, Aurora and Archer.  Roberta was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Hugh Baird and her brothers Daniel Bone (Susan) and Walter Bone (Barb).  She is mourned by her sisters Shirley Young (late Peter), Marilyn Gibney (Art), Beverly Adolphus (late David) and Christine Parulski (Frank).

Family will receive friends and family for visitation at the Greenbank United Church on Friday, October 3rd from 7-9 pm and on Saturday, October 4th from 10-11am followed by a Funeral Service in the Church. Interment at McNeil Cemetery, Wick, for family only, directly after the service.  A light lunch will be served by the women of the UCW at the Greenbank Church.  If desired, donations may be made in Roberta Baird’s name to the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry or the Greenbank United Church through WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen St., Port Perry (905-985-2171).  Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at waggfuneralhome.com
