BAKER, Coop Baker

In typical Coop fashion he fought right to the end but passed peacefully at Mariposa House Hospice surrounding by loving family. Our family will forever be grateful to the Mariposa House Hospice staff who gave not only compassionate care to Coop, but the chance to sit together, reminisce, laugh loudly, stay close and simply be family to the end. Born in Orillia, predeceased by his parents Gill and Marie Baker. Steadfast brother to Wendy – predeceased, Dan (Bonnie), Lee (late Jan), Susie Laughlin (late Grant), and Jenny – predeceased. Remembered always by his nieces and nephews Brian, Jon, Chris, April, Connie, Jody, Bill, Tom, Alex, Korty, Connor along with their spouses and many great nieces and nephews. Coop Baker built a solid career as a Technical Services Technician with Hydro One in Brampton and Halton Hills Hydro. He was an avid outdoorsman, a huge fan of music, former Orillia lacrosse player and a great friend to many evidenced by the number of life long friends he had. He was a devoted son who made it his mission to ensure his mother Marie was always well cared for going as far as bringing her home to The Farm every weekend until she passed. Although he didn’t have any kids of his own you wouldn’t know it by the way he showed up for his nieces and nephews. He loved us fiercely, teased us relentlessly and supported us in all ways big and small. Whether it was showing up when it mattered most or offering advice that was equal parts wisdom and brutal honesty he made sure we were never on our own. If you heard “How do I say this?” followed by “Hold on” you were going to get the unfiltered version, it wasn’t always gentle but it was always real and we will miss it. Say Hi to the good ones for us Coop. A celebration of Coop’s Life will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E, Orillia on Friday May 15th 2026 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Dress code is camo chic and your favorite Coop story is expected!
