BALDWIN, Philip Baldwin

Passed away peacefully in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie on February 1, 2026 with his partner, Glenda, at his side.

Philip Baldwin was born January 28, 1945 in Montreal, the eldest son of the late Clifton Leonard and Hope Lois Baldwin. He grew up in St. Marys, Ontario graduating from St. Marys DCVI in 1963. He then graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) in 1967, Masters of Applied Science in 1971, and Masters of Arts in 1976. Phil was married in 1969 to Jane Maloney until her passing in 2010. Phil’s career was with the Ontario Ministry of Education until his retirement in 1998.

Phil, a very social person, was one of the nicest gentleman one could ever meet. He loved nature, enjoyed sports, was a great golfer, avid traveler, and was involved in many activities in his community, Probus being one of them. He spent many happy times at his vacation home in North Carolina with family.

 

Phil is survived by Glenda Urquhart, her son Jason Urquhart and his wife Sheri and their children Nyla and Jolene to whom he was a special β€œGrandpa”. Also surviving is his loving sister, Claudia Baldwin and her husband John Simmons and nephew Christopher and niece Laura (Drew) of Australia, his cousins Nancy Hickling and Susie Hatten, sisters-in-law Marie Currie, Winnifred (Neil) Driscoll, Sharyn Morellato, brother-in-law Roger (Shirley) Maloney and other nieces and nephews.

Phil was predeceased by his brother Brian in 2009.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the John Thomas Funeral Home in Alliston on Saturday May 30 at 1p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.

Many thanks and appreciation to the wonderful care at the IOOF in Barrie and everyone else who provided support in Phil’s journey with Alzheimer’s.
