BANKS, Shirley Banks

She was born March 1, 1933, in London, ON. The daughter of the late Arthur Wheatley and Esther (Blythe) Wheatley.  She passed away peacefully on Thursday March 19, 2026 at the University Hospital at the age of 93.

Dear wife of the late Ernest Banks (2005) and loved mother of Julie Julien (Jim), Brenda Harding (Rob), Valerie Vischschraper (John), Bill Given (late Kim), second mom to Cheryl O’Rourke (Gary) and was predeceased by her son Robert Given (late wife Ban). Loved sister of Libby, Pat (late Bud), John (late Sandy), Tom (Bev) and was predeceased by her sister Helen (late Ken). She is fondly remembered by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Shirley Banks was an AVID fan of the Blue Jays, never missed watching the games on TV and cheering them on. She enjoyed camp ground camping and loved the local beaches and going for afternoon drives with Brenda. She loved the challenge of word games with Julie. She had fun playing Crazy 8’s with Valerie and loved sitting on her balcony enjoying the afternoon shade.

A Private family graveside service will be held in August 2026 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
