Passed away after a long battle of illness at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy on Friday, August 14, 2026 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Julie Ann (Twynstra) Barclay for 19 years. Cherished father of Chris Barclay, and Chad Barclay and step-father of Angela McCallum, and Pamela McCallum and Jeff Wojcicki. Adored grandfather of Ben, and Henry. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bob and Ardy Barclay, Dean and Cathy Barclay, Holly Barclay, Brian and Kim Twynstra, Ed and Diane Twynstra, and Peter and Julia Twynstra. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers and sister-in-law, Brad and Peggy Barclay, and Bryan Barclay and his parents George and Adene (Johnson) Barclay.
Gerry began his working life as a mechanic at Coor’s Motors in Strathroy before later pursuing a career in the insurance industry. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially the time he spent with his beloved pup, Brodie. Gerry also had a passion for old cars and newer boats, and he will be fondly remembered for the many times he was seen cruising around in his Corvette. His warm spirit, love of life, and companionship with Brodie will be deeply missed.
Cremation has taken place. Private interment at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
