Our beloved Nan, Celia Mae Barfitt (nee Wareham) passed away peacefully with family by her side at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on Saturday, July 5, 2025 in her 100th year. She lived a full and beautiful life, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Hector. She will be forever missed by her daughters Joan and her children Julie (John) and Greg, Judy and her children Ryan, Lindsay (John), and Kathleen and her son Robert (Kelly) and his children Christopher (Agnes) and Kimberly (Alex). Cherished great grandmother of Dani, Nathan, Max and Luna.

Celia was born on April 27, 1926, in the charming community of Otterbury, Newfoundland. From her earliest days, she embodied a gentle spirit that would touch countless lives.

Nan found immense joy and solace in her passions. Her hands, though small, were truly gifted, transforming her surroundings into havens of beauty. Her lovingly tended flower beds, brimming with life and colour around her home, were a vibrant testament to her green thumb and enduring patience. Inside, she was equally renowned for her baking. The comforting scent of her freshly baked goods was a hallmark of her home, always ready to welcome family and friends with a delicious treat and a warm smile.

More than her hobbies, Nan was defined by her role as the heart of her family. As “Nan,” she was a guiding light, a trusted confidante, and a source of unconditional love to her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Her quiet strength and unwavering affection will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A special thank you to the palliative care team at Ross Memorial Hospital, whose kindness and dedication brought comfort and dignity to Nan in her final days. A graveside service will be held at a later date. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care Unit.
