BARTON, Susan Barton

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Susan Barton (née Valentino) at Maison McCulloch Hospice on July 10th, 2026, at the age of 68 with her daughter by her side.

Susan Barton was the first born to the late Lorraine (née Legault) and late Ronald Valentino in Sudbury on October 31, 1957. She grew up in the area with her sisters Louise Valentino, Lilliane Beauchamp (Rob) and her brother Norm Valentino.

Loving mother to her greatest pride and joy Rebecca Sargent (Darrell) and two granddaughters Makenna and Madison.

Family being very important to Sue, she cherished the time spent with loved ones and took particular joy in her grandchildren.

Sue had fond memories of growing up in Sudbury with her family and friends. She worked as an operator at Bell Canada for many years where she developed friendships.

She was a hard working single mother who made sure her daughter was brought up to be a strong independent woman.

Using her quick wit and sharp mind, she did not hesitate to express her strong political views, yet she had a great sense of humour and a unique way of telling stories that made people laugh.

Sue was “one tough cookie”, overcoming various health challenges and hardships over the years with strength, courage and resiliency while managing to keep her sense of humour.

Taken from us much too soon, she will remain forever in our hearts.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitations. A private service for immediate family will be held at the Cooperative Funeral Home in Sudbury.
