BAYNHAM , Susan Elizabeth Baynham

Susan Elizabeth Baynham, of Oshawa, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, after a brief respiratory illness. She was in her 59th year.

Sue was born in Exeter, Ontario, and spent her early childhood years in Exeter and Dashwood, where she made cherished, lifelong memories with her cousins and friends. In 1975, she moved to Oshawa, which remained her home for the rest of her life. She dedicated many years of her career to the Ministry of Finance, where she built lasting friendships with her colleagues.

Sue is lovingly remembered by her mother, Anne Baynham (née Koehler), and her brother, Chris Baynham (Catherine), her half-sister, Allison Greenlee (Chad), and her half-brother, Ryan Baynham (Melanie). She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews: Connor Jelly (Katie & Vanessa), Christopher Jelly (Michelle), Emily Jelly, Claire Baynham, Jaden Greenlee, Gavin Greenlee, Bobby Baynham, and Beckett Baynham. Sue was preceded in death by her father, Robert Baynham.

Sue found joy in life’s simple pleasures, like cheering on her nieces and nephews at their sporting and music events, dog-sitting for Chris & Catherine, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was known for her thoughtful and caring nature, always the first to reach out with a “Happy Birthday,” a word of congratulations, or a simple message to let you know she was thinking of you. Her kindness and consideration touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the anonymous organ donor who, over 25 years ago, gave Sue the gift of a kidney and pancreas transplant. This selfless act allowed her to live a full and vibrant life, filling our world with her laughter and love. We are forever grateful for the precious time we had with her, made possible by this incredible gift. In honour of Sue’s life and the incredible gift she received, we kindly ask you to consider becoming a registered organ and tissue donor.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible healthcare teams who supported Sue throughout her journey: the University Health Network Kidney/Pancreas transplant team with her primary nurse Andrea Norgate, the Lakeridge Health CCU team, her dedicated family physician Dr. Dukic and her receptionist Sam, and Dr. Natalia Baziak who has followed Sue for many years with her ophthalmology practice. Their expertise, compassion, and unwavering support gave us all hope and comfort.

Visitation will be held on August 26th at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, located at 53 Division St, Bowmanville, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for friends and family to pay their respects.

A funeral service for Sue will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Dashwood, Ontario, on September 20th at 11:00 AM. The interment will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Immediately following the cemetery service, all are welcome to a lunch reception at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to the Trillium Gift of Life Network in Sue’s memory. This organization works to save and improve lives through organ and tissue donation.
