BELROSE, Gordon Arthur Belrose
August 26, 1945 - June 28, 2026A truly good man in the best sense of the words, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday June 28, 2026.
Gordon Arthur Belrose was a man of simple pleasures, deep devotion to family, and a hardworking spirit. To Gord, family was everything. He spent his life ensuring his loved ones were cared for, empowered, protected, and happy.
While he never sought the spotlight, he always showed up whenever someone needed a hand.
He possessed a wonderful, gentle wit, and was never above “stirring the pot” with a glimmer of mischief in his eye. He had a rare gift for making everyone feel like they knew him.
Above all, he was loved, he was deeply loving, and he departed this world knowing exactly how much he meant to those he left behind. Because of this, he would not want his legacy to be defined by grief, but by the warmth, laughter, and strong family bonds he worked so hard to create.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan (Hooey) Belrose; his devoted children, Trudi Belrose, and Terry Belrose and his partner Nadine Kruger; and his cherished granddaughter, Gemma Belrose and her partner Teo Barnard. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Stanfield (Ted) and Susan Chambers; and his brother-in-law, Larry Hooey (Sharon, predeceased); his sister-in-law, Gail (Hooey) Gillespie (Mike, predeceased); numerous nieces and nephews; and his many cousins, who were his childhood playmates. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marion (Frankish) Belrose, and his brother, Harold Belrose (Vi). He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Blanche Belrose (nΓ©e Caudle, wife of the late Percy Hooey, and the late Bruce Belrose; Brotherβs in-law Joe Hooey (Nancy) and Ivan Hooey (Doris)
Gord spent many years enjoying, and has family in the areas of, Tobermory, Cooksville, Orangeville, Orillia, and most recently, Wasaga Beach. Throughout his life, he was known for being a good neighbour, Golfer, and Lions Club member. In Orillia, where he spent most of his adult years, he was well-known alongside his wife as the longtime owner of Color Your World.
We feel his loss so deeply now because we were so blessed by his presence. By honouring his legacy of warmth, love, and laughter, we will heal as he would wish us to.
