With sadness, we announce the passing of Allan Robert Bennett on Sunday, June 8th 2025. Allan was the 2nd oldest of 4 children, Margaret, Allan, David & Daphne to parents Alvin & Amy Bennett.
Staunchly proud to have been born in Saskatchewan and raised in Toronto, it is there where he learned the mechanical trade out of necessity, in order to be able to spend time at the family cottage, which then led to a career in the forklift industry and ultimately meeting his wife Wendy Bennett who preceded his death. Together they raised Greg (Ingrid) & Jeff (Stacy) who further extended his family with Anika, Tatum, Claudia, Tegan and Nora.
Allan designed his life around having his family close by. In 1976 with the help of a close friend he built a business that would have his entire family at his side for over 25 years. He built a cottage where he again was able to have his family by his side to enjoy nature and the quiet solitude that the pine trees of the Muskoka offer. And during the winter months he was host to his family in the southern state of Florida to enjoy warm weather & BBQ’s surrounded by Family and Friends.
Al loved playing sports – baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, scuba, pickleball, and his most favorite being hockey. One of his biggest passions was restoring old cars, bicycles and scooters; he finished numerous showroom quality restorations throughout the years and was always someone you could ask if you needed help with technical questions, his knowledge was unmatched, especially with Corvettes.
In reflection of his life, it becomes very apparent that his love was not shown in words, but in deeds. And in those deeds, he was very generous. Allan will be missed by all of those who knew him, but especially by the friends at All-Lift Ltd, Outdoor Resorts in Florida, the cottagers at Gibson Lake, Rotary Club, Caledon Cruisers, Bolton Old Timers, and Palgrave Men’s Slow Pitch.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) for a Memorial Visitation on Friday, June 13 from 4-8pm.
