It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of our dear mother Bernice (Bea) Peterson on September 07, 2026.
Our mom will be deeply missed by her daughters Donna Gowin (Bob), Shirley Boyer (Alan); sons Rick (Joan) and Kenny (Jasmine) Peterson. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Tammy Leach, Tina Smith, Ashley and Wade Boyer; four great-grandchildren: Riley Leach, Braydon Leach, Chaise Smith, and Carter Smith.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Don Peterson (January 2020) and son Terry Peterson (August 5, 2026); sisters May Dack and Jean Kisby.
Bea is survived by her two sisters: Lois Teesdale and Carol Massone from Vancouver, British Columbia; her brother Monty Marchant from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews from Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
Mom went to Caswell School and then to Tech School. Mom met dad and was swept off of her feet. After a short courtship they were married on September 02, 1950. They celebrated sixty-nine years of marriage in 2019.
As the children grew up, mom started her career at The Bay department store. When Midtown Plaza opened, she went to work for Sears for eight years in the boys and men's wear department, then into the accounting department. At the age of forty she chose to stay at home to be a housewife and mother.
Mom volunteered for the Queen Elizabeth parent school committee. She also volunteered at the Red Cross, being involved in blood drives for many years. She also worked with the poppy campaign alongside her close friend Florence Brown, through the Nutana Legion.
Mom and Dad used to take Ken and Terry on fishing trips. They purchased a cabin at Cochin, Saskatchewan, where mom used to love swimming in the lake. She made sure that all of the kids knew how to swim. Mom loved going to the cabin with the family and grandchildren.
In 1980 they sold the cabin and started winter vacationing in Vancouver, spending time with her two sisters and enjoying the warmer weather. They also spent time going to Florida.
Mom loved it when family got together for special celebrations. Everyone was welcomed, friends and neighbors included.
Mom and Dad moved into Stensrud Lodge in May 2019. Dad passed away in January, 2020. Mom enjoyed her time at Stensrud Lodge, often commenting on not having to cook, clean, or wash her clothes. She thought she was in paradise! All assisted by the excellent staff at Stensrud Lodge.
Bernice is remembered for her wonderful bright smile that would light up the room. She was always concerned about other people’s situations. When mom lived on 2nd Street, she was known for the beautiful flowers that she had growing in the back yard.
Mom and Dad are reunited once again, with their son Terry by their side.
Mom, you will be missed and loved forever. Our memories with you will be cherished always.
