BEVAN, Tony Bevan

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Chapman House, Owen Sound on June 17th, 2026 in his 68th year. Marking the end of a two and a half year battle with cancer, which he fought with tenacity, dignity and courage, and, true to his nature, concern for those he would leave behind. Tony had a deep, living faith in a great and loving God, whom he leaned on heavily throughout his battle with cancer. Tony Bevan love and devotion to his family was a cornerstone in his life, and he practiced a life of service in expression of that love.

Predeceased by his loving parents Tony Sr. and Jenny. Tony will be forever remembered by Rita, his wife and best friend. Loving dad of Sarah and her husband Dave, Ben and his wife Cheryl. Proud Popps to Connor, Charlotte, Aidan, Finn, Breya and Hayley. Beloved brother of Paul (Peggy), Jayne (Dermott), and Susan (Alan). Sadly missed by his nieces; Laura (Adam), Bebhinn (Eoin), Saidhbhin, Ella and Evan, nephews; Leon and Adam, sisters-in-law: Bernie and Roisin (Micheal), Aunt May, and his uncles: Harry and Sony.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, where he started his career as a classically trained French Chef, Tony immigrated to Canada in the late 1980’s and shortly after, embarked on a new career path within the community colleges of Ontario. This journey spanned three colleges, Cambrian, Humber and Georgian where he co-ordinated culinary programs for over thirty years, mentoring his students and imparting his passion for the culinary arts.

The family would like to express their utmost gratitude to the wonderful medical teams that have provided such incredible care to Tony over the duration of his illness. To Dr. Abu and the oncology team at Brightshores Health System; to Dr. Chapman and her selfless colleagues at Chapman House, who not only cared for Tony, but also for our whole family, thank you! To our friends, neighbours and church family who have provided us with so much love and support, you are amazing.

Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Tony’s life will be held at the Owen Sound Alliance Church, 440 7th Ave. E., on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ryan Tudor officiating, followed by a reception in the church hall.
