BINKLEY, John Binkley
November 18, 1947 - July 8, 2026Peacefully on July 8th at Joseph Brant Hospital, John went to be with the Lord to his eternal home, leaving behind his loving and heartbroken wife, Linda, of 45 years. She endured this emotional and painful health journey by his side to the end. He will be missed by his furry friend Ebony and just this January lost his beloved dog, Luna.
John Binkley was pre-deceased by his parents, Norman and Wilhelmina “Willie” Binkley and his loving in-laws, Tony and Margie DiCecca.
John was a dedicated teacher for 35 years with the former Wentworth County Board of Education and impacted the young lives of many students at several schools in the Flamborough area over the duration of his professional career. John retired in 2003 at the High School he graduated from in Dundas, that had become a middle school. “To teach is to touch a life forever.”
John also leaves behind his wonderful supportive family, Antoinette & Jim Friesen and Joanne & Sean Miersma. His nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew, Nicole (Dan), Cassandra (Tyler), Ryan (Maddy), Carli (Des), Nathan (Susie), Suraj, Ella, Sofie, Tony and Pemalla.
He will be missed by several other family members, many wonderful friends who became family, neighbors and extended family at Flamborough Baptist Church and Christian Salvage Mission.
Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the caring and compassionate medical staff who took such wonderful care of John during his two months stay at the hospital.
Visitation with the family will take place at Flamborough Baptist Church, 41 Concession 5 East, Hamilton (Flamborough) on Wednesday July 15th from 5 – 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Service and Celebration of John’s Life will take place at Flamborough Baptist Church on Thursday July 16th starting at 11 a.m. (livestream available), followed with interment at Woodland Cemetery. Reception to follow graveside in Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, John would have preferred donations to Christian Salvage Mission or Flamborough Baptist Church.
