
In loving memory of David Arthur Bishop, B. Comm, DBA, FCPA. It is with great sadness that we announce his passing at Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill, Ontario, on July 12, 2025, at the age of 82. David lived a life of kindness and unwavering devotion to family, friends, and clients. He had a lifelong thirst for knowledge and travel.
David was born on July 6, 1943, in Ottawa, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents Lt. Col. Horace W. Bishop and Norah Martha Bishop, his brother William (Bill) Bishop, and sister-in-law Rachelle Bishop. He is survived by his beloved wife Marcia, sons Jason (Kyra) and Graham (Lesha), grandchildren Chloe, Julia, and Jaxson, and his nieces Julie-Anne, Jessica, and nephew Christopher.
David earned a B. Comm from the University of Ottawa and a DBA from the University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants, he also completed the executive development program at the Ivey Business School. His distinguished career included roles as audit and accounting partner, private practitioner, and leadership positions with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Employment Insurance Commission.
A devoted community leader, David served as a Municipal Councillor in Richmond Hill, Chair of the Richmond Hill Public Library Board, and was active in charitable causes. He was awarded Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals in recognition of his community contributions.
Visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home in Richmond Hill on Wednesday, July 16 from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. A second visitation will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens in Ottawa on Saturday, July 19 from 1–3 p.m., followed by interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
David’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
