BISHOP, Diane Joy Bishop
May 25, 1945 - June 10, 2026
Passed away peacefully at Arbour Heights on June 10, 2026 at the age of 81. She was born on May 25, 1945 in Syracuse New York and Diane moved to Canada as a first generation immigrant from Syracuse after her marriage to Lloyd in 1966. They lived on Ferguson Lane just outside Gananoque for 52 years before moving to Kingston.
Diane Joy Bishop is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lloyd, son Steve Bishop (Sharon), daughter Patti Cockerham (Jamie), grandson Patrick Cockerham (Ottawa) and granddaughter Andrina Cockerham (St. John’s NL). Diane is also survived by her brother Michael Paolini (Diane), sister-in-law, Keri Paolini, sister-in-law Anne Jenkins (Ed), brothers-in-law Doug Bishop (Marilyn) and Ed Bishop (Holly). She was predeceased by her mother Carrie Roseman (David), father Arthur Paolini Sr. and brothers Arthur Paulini Jr. and Robert Paolini.
She was dearly loved by her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nanny”. They remember long summer afternoons on the back porch, watching hummingbirds and other feathered visitors at her feeders while Diane patiently taught them the name of each bird. Woody and then Daisy, her beloved fox terriers, were never far – chasing balls across the yard as Grandpa Lloyd joined in the fun. Diane’s favourite birds were hummingbirds and owls. Andrini still keeps the drawings and artwork she made for Diane, carefully tucked in the binder Diane kept safe for a little over a decade.
As per her wishes there will be no service at this time and a celebration of life at a later date.
